Derek Norton
Chief Executive Officer
Derek Norton is the founder and principal at Topspin Strategies. He has over 20 years of government relations experience, where he has successfully managed clients' relationships under the Gold Dome, as well as with city and county government governments and entities. Derek has also held local elected office for ten years and currently serves as the Mayor of Smyrna, Georgia. The relationships Derek has built both at the Capitol and with leaders in local government through his roles in public service uniquely position him to provide successful outcomes for his clients.
Derek began his career working as a staffer for his local Congressman Johnny Isakson. He joined the private sector in 2006, where he served as Government Relations Director for the Atlanta Apartment Association for ten years, and then for the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) from 2016-2021 . In 2021, Derek founded Topspin Strategies, with MAG as his first client. He has built Topspin Strategies into a highly respected and results driven firm that successfully represents clients across several industries and interests.

Derek has served on several boards and volunteer committees both in his community and across the state, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for St. Benedict's Episcopal School. Derek and his wife Laura founded Support Smyrna, a local non-profit that helps children, families, veterans, seniors, and others in need in the Smyrna community. Derek and Laura are members of Smyrna First United Methodist Church, and they have two children, Samantha and Jack.
Hannah Holcomb
Government Affairs Associate
Hannah Holcomb is originally from Cumming, Georgia, and currently resides in Alpharetta. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a minor in English, from Georgia College and State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Policy at Georgia State University.
Hannah began her legislative career in the Georgia Senate, serving in both the Judiciary Committee Office and the Children and Families Committee Office. In these roles, she worked closely with senators, committee chairs, legislative counsel, and key staff to navigate complex policy matters and move legislation through the process. Her experience spans issues involving child services and foster care, tort law, judicial practice and procedure, civil liberties, and constitutional matters.
Through her time under the Gold Dome, Hannah developed strong working relationships with legislators and senior staff across both chambers. Her understanding of the legislative process — combined with her credibility, responsiveness, and ability to anticipate challenges — allows her to effectively advocate for her clients and deliver meaningful results.
She brings not only policy knowledge, but also trusted relationships that help move initiatives from concept to passage.
Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Hannah enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, learning to golf, and being with her family.
